Maison de Maître
This house had suffered a devastating fire, which destroyed everything but the walls. One positive thing was the opportunity to change the layout to create lighter, more spacious rooms, and to install underfloor heating powered by wood granules. Double glazed wooden windows and natural insulation made the house much more energy efficient . To keep the character of the old building I sourced local stone flooring and reclaimed fireplaces, staircases, quarry tiles and beams.
The Cottage
This guest cottage was tired and in need of a revamp. My clients wanted to maximise natural light and comfort. I designed the upstairs space to create one spacious bedroom, ensuite bathroom, and separate WC, where there had been two bedrooms tucked under the eaves, causing lots of minor head injuries! The tiles that originally surrounded the bath were reused around the reclaimed washbasin, and we used natural paint throughout. The kitchen was also reimagined in order to increase work space, storage and light.
Country Cottage
This rural cottage is full of rustic charm. It is a work in progress on a small budget, using reclaimed materials. Most of the furnishings are brocante finds which create a warm and inviting environment.
