Renovating and restoring old stone buildings has been my passion since 1994, when I worked on my first property, a townhouse with an interiors shop, in the market town of Ribérac in the Dordogne. Removing the modern additions and discovering the original features sparked an enthusiasm that has since carried me through all my design and renovation projects.

Figue is a design studio specialising in period properties. Living in the Dordogne countryside, I am inspired by nature and the local buildings constructed using rough stone and clay from the fields and oak from the woodlands. This has influenced my approach to design and my appreciation of simplicity and natural light. I focus on sustainability, preserving original features and using traditional and natural materials while adapting homes to modern family life.

I believe that our environment directly impacts our wellbeing so it is important that our homes should be the places where we feel the most comfortable and relaxed, surrounded by things we love.

A rustic dining room with a wooden table, chairs with patterned cushions, a vase of tulips, a small table with a white lamp, a textured round rug, a wall-mounted plate rack with beige plates, and a small window in the background.

Working closely with my clients, my goal is to create timeless, beautiful spaces that are also practical, and that reflect the personalities of their custodians while respecting the history of the building and preserving it for the future.

I love the patina, imperfection and uniqueness of reclaimed materials and can source anything from flooring and fireplaces to bathtubs and antique furniture, bringing lasting character to a home.
